Your satisfaction and your dog’s health, happiness and safety
are the highest priority of The Feed Bag Grooming facility. While
your pet is in our care, we will treat him or her as our own.
At
check-in, our groomer will go over with you what your preferences
are as to how you want your dog to look. If you have a picture
of your dog looking it’s best, feel free to bring that along. Our
groomers will keep notes on your preferences for future appointments.
Also at check-in, our groomer will do a quick ‘hands-on’ or comb
through to check for matting or any other issues that may affect
the price of the groom or the finished look. At this time our groomer
can give you an estimate of the time your pet will be ready for
pickup and confirm that we have your current contact information.
In general, you can plan on your pet being with us 3-4 hours for
most breeds. Your dog’s coat type & condition (not to mention
level of cooperation) will determine the actual length of the appointment.
How can you as the pet owner help us get the best
grooming possible for your pet? Here are some suggestions:
- A good long walk or outdoor playtime an hour before
grooming will allow your pet to burn off some energy to help
sit still better for grooming, not to mention reducing the
likeliness of a potty accident messing up a nice clean doggie.
- If you cannot drop the dog off the dog yourself, please
provide written instructions on how you want your dog to look,
and a phone number to reach you if possible. Translations
through a 3rd party (such as your child or spouse) can result
in a completely different look than what you had in mind.
- Be very honest and up-front about any bad experiences
your dog may have had at another grooming facility. If your
dog has bitten before, the groomer will be able to plan additional
time to help your dog relax. In a case where safety is an
issue, a muzzle may be used. Also, be sure to tell the groomer
if your dog has any aches, pains or injuries that may make
him or her react to being touched. If your dog has aggression
towards other dogs or men, women or children, that is also
important for us to know so we can plan accordingly.
- When you arrive to pick up your finished dog, please
tell the groomer right away if there is anything you’d like
changed. This not only ensures your satisfaction, but also
allows the groomer to make the correct notes for your next
appointment. We will do our best to honor your wishes, but
we still can’t make a Pug look like a Greyhound!
Be honest with yourself as to how good you are about
brushing your dog between appointments. Brushing out mats from
your dog’s coat is painful for the dog and a frustration for
the groomer who does not wish to cause your dog any pain. If
need be, our groomer can suggest that you schedule a brushing
appointment between grooms or shorten the length of time between
grooming appointments. Many breeds would also do great with
a ‘mini-groom’ scheduled between regular full-grooming appointments.
- Arrive 5-10 minutes before your pet’s scheduled
appointment. Late arrivals throw off the entire grooming schedule
for every dog that day, including your own. Also, when you
pre-book your next appointment, you’ll avoid the rush of trying
to get into a full schedule at the last minute. A busy grooming
facility can easily be booked solid for 2-3 weeks before any
appointments are available. Getting your dog in the same day
you call would really be a rarity.

grooming infrequently or never needs an actual ‘haircut’.

over Trimming, Clipping, Shaving and Shaping to provide a ‘Finished’

or injury with a gentle relaxing pet message. Massage has also
increases circulation, which in turn increases the oxygen that

the body. The benefit? A happier, healthier dog with a strengthened
immune system. Dogs who are massaged on a regular basis can
also show improvements in behavior because of reduced tension and
stress levels. Think about it, how do YOU feel after a good massage?
